Parish councils are being invited to take part in Wiltshire’s Best Kept Village competition.

The annual competition consists of villages competing against others in their district, tested against criteria which looks for tidiness, cleanliness, presentation and village community spirit.

Villages are judged within categories of small, medium and large villages.

Last year there was success for two North Wiltshire villages, with Hullavington named winners of the large village category and Charlton coming out on top of the small village category.

The competition is sponsored by The Hills Group once again, with prizes of up to £200 up for grabs.

There is no charge to enter.

Anyone can compile an entry on behalf of their village, but the council needs to be aware of a plan to submit an entry, to avoid multiple entries.

Entries must be received by CPRE Wiltshire no later than Monday April, 22.

The first round judging will take place from May 13 to June 9.
