Police in the North Cotswolds have revealed how many motorists they caught speeding in January.

Throughout the month, officers were operating their camera safety van in numerous locations.

In Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourton-on-the-Hill and Little Rissington officers clocked 49 motorists speeding in January.

With two motorists recording a top speed of 48mph in a 30mph zone.

The A429 in Moreton-in-Marsh -

11 motorists were caught speeding, with one motorist caught at 48mph.

The average speed of the motorists clocked was 39.2mph, well over the 30mph speed limit on the road

One motorist was also reported for a number plate offence.

The A44 in Bourton-on-the-Hill

24 motorists were caught speeding, with one motorist caught at 48mph.

The average speed of the 24 motorists caught was 39.7mph, again well over the 30mph speed limit on the road.

The A44 on Moreton-in-Marsh

Four motorists were caught speeding, with one motorist caught at 43mph.

The average speed of the four motorists were 38.5mph, more than the 30mph speed limit on the road.

Little Rissington

10 motorists were caught speeding, with one motorist was clocked at 33mph.

The average speed of the ten motorists were 30mph, more than the 20mph speed limit on the road.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: "The speed enforcement team have a camera that records speeding and can detect driving on a mobile device which will result in a £200 fine and six points.

"It can also detect number plate offences for dirty or incorrect spacing that can result in a £100 fine and driving without a seat belt.

"We will be inviting the van back.

"Where do you think they should set up?"
