Three motorists were charged for drink driving as part of a crackdown by Malmesbury and Royal Wootton Bassett Police.

The three suspects were all arrested over the weekend and charged with the offence.

On Friday, February 8, police were called to Corston after reports of a crash.

They spoke with a male driver and conducted a road side breath test after smelling intoxicants.

He was found to have 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, well over double the legal limit of 35.

Nobody was injured as a result of the incident.

Alistar Whittard, 49, of Chippenham, has been charged with drink driving and is due in court on February 27.

On Saturday, February 9, police were called to a crash in Wootton Bassett at the B4042/B4696 junction.

They spoke with a male driver and conducted a road side breath test.

He was found to have 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Alastar Walczak, 23, of Swindon, was charged with drink driving and is due in court on March 6.

The final incident happened on Sunday, February 10, when a motorist was spotted speeding in Malmesbury.

Police conducted a road side breath test and the woman driving blew 88 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Samantha Dyne, 37, of Malmesbury was charged with drink driving and is due in court on March 6.

A spokesperson for Malmesbury and Royal Wootton Bassett Police said: "Officers are very disappointed to have dealt with so many drink drivers in one weekend.

"We are pleased with this positive action and result and will continue to actively target those who do drink and drive.

"Please be aware it is not 'if' you are caught by the police for drink driving, its 'when'."
