THE Fairford Firefighters would like to thank the community for the support with the Firefighters’ Charity Textile Bank, which is situated outside Fairford Fire Station.

Since it was installed, around 43,250kg of textiles (clothes etc) have been collected, which has raised £9,438 for the charity. Just a reminder though that, if the collection bin is full, please do not dump items by the side of the bin. Please call the number on the side of the collection bank to say that the bin is full.

MESSY Church will take place at 4-6pm on the 2nd Sunday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Fairford. The next meeting is on Sunday February 10. Crafts, games, worship followed by a cooked meal for families in Fairford Community Centre. No need to book, but it would help to know numbers and any dietary requirements for catering. THE next Get-Together painting session of Fairford Art Society will be on Tuesday, February 12 at 1.30pm in the Heritage Room of Fairford Community Centre. The subject is ‘Skies’. Visitors welcome £3. For more information, contact Sallie Seymour on 01367 850385, fairfordartsociety.com.

THE League of Friends Christmas Bazaar held in November raised a total of £3,035. Thanks to all local businesses for their donations, the volunteers who managed the stalls and to all who attended.

FAIRFORD and Lechlade Youth Football Club (FLYFC) are launching a fundraising initiative to improve the Club’s playing facilities with their ‘Put it on the Pitch’ campaign. The Club is hoping to initially raise around £11,000 to fund the first phase of the work to improve 50% of the grass pitches at Horcott, Fairford with top-soiling, scarifying and re-seeding. Further work planned is to similarly improve the other half of the pitches, install an artificial playing surface alongside the existing pitches and improve the facilities in the Clubhouse. Around 200 boys and girls are currently registered with FLYFC from the age of 5 years up and

Chairman, Adam Sloman, has said that the work is needed not only to give young players a brilliant start to their footballing journey, but it would also be of benefit to the whole community of Fairford. CHRISTMAS at the Fairford WI was full of festivities starting with a carol service at St Mary’s Church with over 100 women including members from seven institutes within Fairford’s group.
