The official opening of a new play park is taking place next week.

On Saturday, February 16, at 11am, Sherston Parish Council will officially re-open the play area in the Recreational Ground which has undergone a refurbishment at the end of last year.

The redevelopment of the recreation ground is only possible after the estate of Mr and Mrs North gave a huge amount of money to the village to go towards the youth in the parish.

Further funding of the makeover, which included the installation of several pieces of new play equipment and resurfacing, was obtained from a successful grant application to the National Lottery.

Sherston Parish Council town clerk Donna Ford said: "The parish council would like to invite the Parishioners of Sherston Parish to the official opening of the new play park.

"Children of Sherston can now swing away till their hearts delight now the new play area at the recreational ground has now been completed.

"Visitors to the play area can now enjoy the two new Play Towers, Tornado Carousel, Rota Roka, Vippey See-Saw, Nexus Free rider, The Viper, The Scorpion, Trampoline and several new swings with different types of seats.

"New safety surfacing has also been installed along with new seats to enable the Parishioners of Sherston to sit down, relax and watch the children enjoy the new asset to the parish.

"If that wasn’t enough, the new goal posts will add further enjoyment to those who wish to practice their football skills.

"The Parish Council look forward to seeing you all on February 16."

Plans to redevelop the Recreation Ground were revealed in May 2018.
