NORTH Wiltshire Conservative MP James Gray has declared that he will be voting against the proposed deal ahead of next week's crucial Brexit vote.

In December Prime Minister Theresa May delayed the so-called 'meaningful vote' on her draft deal until Tuesday, January 15, hoping to secure concessions from the EU and support from her party.

However, the North Wiltshire MP has made it clear that he will not be supporting her current vision for Brexit.

Speaking to the Wilts and Glos Standard Mr Gray MP said: "People voted locally and nationally to leave the European Union.

"The Deal which is currently proposed does not do that.

"It would keep Britain in some kind of limbo for all time- neither in nor out; governed by their rules and regulations without having any say in them; endangering the Union by creating a boundary in the Irish Sea; and paying £39 billion for the privilege of doing so. (That’s 26,000 nurses for 40 years, or £65 million for each constituency.

"Just imagine how many potholes that would deal with!)"

He added: "So I will be voting against the proposed Deal on Tuesday."
