The pedestrian who died on the M5 on Saturday has been confirmed as a 26 year old man from Stroud.
Police were called to the southbound carriageway of the M5 at just after 7.30am and the man was declared dead at the scene. No one else was injured.
Emergency services and accident investigators closed the motorway near junction 13, Stroud, for several hours while they examined the scene.
Any witnesses or anyone with information who hasn't spoken to police should call 101 and quote incident 71 of 5 January.
