A CHARITY at the heart of the community in Cirencester had a busy Christmas and New Year.

Cirencester Signpost secured accommodation locally for two homeless people, who were then able to spend Christmas in a home of their own.

The charity, who come alongside those in the community with issues that limit their quality of life such as unemployment, debt and housing challenges, then served 135 Christmas meals with all the trimmings at Ashcroft Church followed by a free raffle with prizes of boxes of chocolates and biscuits together with bespoke hampers.

Chairman Graham Harris explained that partnerships are key to Cirencester Signpost. He said: "In order to provide and deliver the best quality service, it essential that we work alongside others.

"I would like to express thanks to Cirencester Foodbank together with local M&S and Waitrose stores who, as a result of coming together, we were able to hand out 75 food parcels to families in need along with re-distributing 20 trays of surplus fresh fruit and vegetables."

He added: "New Year is always a time of reflection and renewal and at Cirencester Signpost we commit ourselves to doing all we can to come alongside anyone in need of help and journeying with them to a brighter and more hopeful future in 2019."
