A Cirencester entrepreneur has created a new product inspired by her father’s struggles as he grew older.
Teresa Gwilt launched Muffie after her father John, a World War Two veteran struggled to keep warm as he grew older and less mobile.
When Teresa tried to buy him a ‘fleecy’ hand-warmer, there was no such thing available, so she decided to design and create her own.
Muffie is a fleecy hand-warmer, an insulated reinvention of the classic muff, designed with two separate pockets to prevent hands becoming clammy.
Teresa Gwilt, founder of Muffie, said: “The Muffie range has been created to fill a gap in the market that I discovered after trying - and failing - to find a hand warmer for my dad.
“Not only does it act as a hand-warmer, but it can be helpful to mental wellbeing too because it acts as a stress-busting relaxation aid.
“We are delighted to see all the hard work finally pay off and be in a position where we can offer Muffie to the public and take the chill out of chillin’!”
As a supporter of the Make It British campaign, Teresa has chosen to work exclusively with UK based not-for-profit organisations and “suppliers who give something back”.
Muffie is priced at £35.95 or £45.95 for the premium designs in the Wow! Edition. It comes in a range of colourful designs.
