POLICE are currently looking for a man who reportedly attempted to 'grab' a female dog walker in Cirencester.

At around 6.15am on New Year's Day, a woman was walking her dog near to the police station in the Forum when she was assaulted.

A man who had been walking on the other side of the road, was said to have crossed over and grabbed her from behind.

The woman was able to shrug him off but, fearing that he was going to try again, she screamed and her dog barked.

The man then walked away.

He is described as white, in his late teens or early twenties with dark, cropped hair with small fringe and bushy eyebrows.

He was wearing a black Puffa style jacket, dark trousers and shoes.

The woman was not physically injured but very shaken by the incident.

Police are urging anyone who was in the area as the time, or has any information that could help identify the man, to call police on 101 and quote incident number 227 of January 1.
