FAIRFORD community pulled together to make sure that Christmas Day was one to remember for local people.

Some 42 people from Fairford, Lechlade and surrounding villages attended the annual Christmas Day Lunch held in the Fairford Community Centre.

When the guests arrived they were treated to magical entertainments by Andy Cole, a local magician. An amazing Christmas lunch followed comprising turkey with all the trimmings and then Christmas pudding or fruit salad.

The afternoon continued with a quiz, a relay of the Queen's Speech and 'Pass the parcels'.

Finally, each guest went home with a 'Goody Bag' containing their supper.

The support of local businesses was gratefully received including Andrew Butler Butchers, 7A Coffee Shop, Londis, Chloros, and Flying Start Nursery for their table decorations.

Co-ordinators Carol and Richard Thompson thanked all those, particularly the chefs and helpers who spent the day in the kitchen and those who gave up their time to help in the advance preparation and on the day.

Without their support, they said, the lunch would not have been such a success.

The organisers were also overwhelmed by the generous donations from many local residents.
