ON THE day of the Conservatives vote of "no confidence" in the Prime Minister, BBC Radio Wiltshire asked North Wiltshire's MP which way he was voting.

"That is a private matter" was his bizarre response.

Mr Gray's attitude prompted his Wiltshire MP colleagues to declare publicly their support for Mrs May.

They recognised rightly that their residents had the right to know their views on something of this importance.

The Prime Minister has survived but been severely undermined by the Conservative extremists who, like James Gray, back the disaster of a "no deal Brexit".

As a Liberal Democrat I disagree with Mrs May.

But I respect her hard work and commitment rather more than Mr Gray seems to.

However he, she and I part company of the best way out of this mess.

I support the growing majority of residents who want a "People's Vote".

We are all much clearer about what is at stake.

We know what our options are.

It should now be for the people of this country to decide between Mrs May's flawed deal, Mr Gray's disastrous "no deal" and keeping the deal we currently have with the EU.

The legal obstacles to the last of these have been cleared away.

Let Mrs May and Mr Gray now recognise, as I do and the confidence vote showed, that the only way of resolving what Parliament cannot is to let the people decide.

Bring on the "People's Vote".

Have a Happy Christmas everyone.
