Dozens of businesses have taken the time to ensure that a festive display greets shoppers in the run up to Christmas.

On Saturday, Nailsworth Mayor Jonathan Duckworth was joined by SNJ reporter Sarah Phaedre Watson for a six hour judging marathon as they braved the rain to pick outstanding examples of creative Christmas cheer.

Hobbs House Bakery won first prize for the business's inventive Christmas tree display with a very fitting bread theme.

Second place went to a relative new comer to the town, Truce, for the shop's stylish, eye-catching and inviting window that judges felt drew shoppers further into the shop.

Finally a special prize was awarded to Coco Confectionery for their "simply wonderful gingerbread fresco of Nailsworth. So good you want to nab a bite out of it!"

"This wonderful collection of window displays shows why I wanted so much to help our community fight the threatened parking charges.

"I admire the sheer, gritty effort of making a town centre fantastic by running a business in it.

"Well done Nailsworth!"
