CHRISTMAS has come early to a care home in Cirencester with the generous donation of a light projector table aimed at helping residents with dementia.

Hunters Care Centre on Cherry Tree Lane in Cirencester received the gift from Rosy Day, whose father Michael is a resident at Hunters.

She has donated a Tovertafel Magic Table projector on his behalf.

Tovertafel literally translated from Dutch means magic table and projects interactive light animations on to a table allowing residents with dementia to interact physically and socially with one another, whilst stimulating cognition and wellbeing.

Rosy who works for a company called Shift 8 which sell and install the table, arranged a demonstration of the uses of the tables during a visit and it was obvious straight away the benefits that the projector would provide to the residents at the home.

Steve Chamberlain, activities coordinator at Hunters, said: ‘The home is so lucky to have such a wonderful gift. Other homes fundraise to have a table installed as they are quite expensive.

"It is so generous of Rosy and her family so a big thank you from everyone at Hunters.

"It is already evident that it increases the wellbeing of our residents and will be a great asset. The table can be moved which will ensure it gets maximum use and benefits the whole home."
