SITUATED in the heart of Tetbury, The Priory Inn offers a variety of traditional pub food whilst providing the perfect location for all occasions.

There are not many other options in Tetbury to eat out, so I was excited to see how it fared under new ownership, having not ventured thus far.

The Priory is accessible on the A433 London Road, a road that runs through the town, with plenty of private parking.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by warm and welcoming staff, who quickly showed us to our seat.

We were placed next to the warm open log fire, which set the atmosphere for the evening - which was welcomed after walking in on a cold and wet evening.

We sat down and scoured the menu, full, of traditional pub food.

Me and my friend eventually settled on a starter of wood fire flat bread sharing board with olive tapenade, spicy tomato chutney and fresh basil pesto priced at £4.50.

It was more than enough for two people and left little room for the main course, not that we were complaining.

The dips were fresh and full of flavour and complimented the bread well and proved a popular start.

For the main, I opted for the beer battered market fish and homemade chips with peas, tartare sauce and fresh lemon priced at £14, whilst my friend opted for the Cotswold wagyu 8oz prime burger, brioche, triple cooked chips, Godsells smoked cheese, bacon jam and house slaw, priced at £14.50.

The fish was crispy yet succulent and was well proportioned.

The burger was cooked to be served medium rare, and was juicy and oozing with flavour, with the sweetness of the jam contrasting well.

With little appetite left due to the generous portions, we decided to share a dessert of Chocolate Brownie with Ice cream with a price of £6.

It was rich but soft and melted in my mouth, and left us both wanting to return for more.

Other options on the menu included romp and rib eye steak, sausage and mash with local veggies and more.

The Priory offers for all occasions, whether its for a quick drink, a quick bite to eat, or a long night out.

It also boasts an outdoor area, perfect for the summer and sunny days.

Staff are warm and helpful and the pub offers a vibrant yet chilled atmosphere.

I have visited in recent years multiple times before the takeover of Arkells and look forward to returning multiple times in the future.
