A bizarre incident left a man stranded on the roof of a large house.

The man was eventually rescued by fire fighters from the house in Malmesbury.

Malmesbury fire service were called to the incident just before 3pm on Thursday, December 13.

They arrived to find the man had got stuck on the roof of a house in the town and had no way of getting down.

Station watch manager at Malmesbury Fire Station Chris Harvey said: "He got into difficulties after attempting to clear ivy from the roof.

"Due to the very slippery conditions and an undersized ladder, he was unable to get back down."

Thankfully, the fire crew were able to assist the man to safety from the roof via one of their ladders.

Chris added: "With a ladder that wasn’t really good enough and was far to risky to climb back down, it was the right decision to call us, it's better to be safe than sorry."

It is not known if the man managed to clear the ivy of the roof.
