SCRAP metal collectors operating outside the law in Cam and Dursley are being targeted by the police and the district council.
Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Team is working in collaboration with Stroud District Council licensing and environmental protection teams in a bid to tackle unlicensed mobile dealers who ask for scrap ad hoc.
A force spokesman said: "Anyone with information about suspicious vehicles is asked to contact police by calling 101 and report specific details such as vehicle registration, colour, make, model of the vehicle along with descriptions of any persons in the vehicle.
"If a crime is in progress please always call 999."
