GENEROUS shoppers in Cirencester dug deep on Saturday, November 24 to help raise money for a charity that supports vulnerable people in the town.
Cirencester Signpost volunteers were collecting in the town centre, raising £724 which will go towards helping the homeless this winter.
Chairman Graham Harris said: “We were delighted with the amount collected. The funds will be used towards the provision of hot meals that we oversee three times a week, not only in the winter but throughout the year, together with providing practical items such as brand new thermal and waterproof clothing along with footwear and toiletries.
“The importance of this work was highlighted as whilst collectors were raising funds we had several new homeless come to our Saturday Big Breakfast session held at St Peter’s hall, where not only did they receive hot food but also we provided them with new clothing and ensured they were linked up with other local key agencies”.
