Santa’s little helpers have been spotted running a mock all over Lechlade. But not to worry, it is all in aid of raising money to beat dementia.
Friday, December 7, is National Elf Day and is a festive fundraiser on behalf of the national organisation – the Alzheimer’s Association.
Staff of Arkell's The Riverside Inn, located in Lechlade will be will be unleashing their inner elf by dressing up in Christmas sparkle to try and get your donations.
Riverside Inn manager Will Rowe said: “There’s a very serious reason behind Elf Day and that is dementia.
“Someone develops the disease every three minutes and dementia is the number one cause of death in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
"It doesn’t discriminate, it has a huge impact on families everywhere, and currently there’s no cure.
“We have been hosting talks by Dementia Friends here at the pub and wanted to do something else to help.”
