A STAR of last year’s Strictly Come Dancing officially opened a new retirement home in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Debbie McGee, who finished as a runner up to Holby City star Joe McFadden on the BBC hit show, joined homeowners and guests to celebrate the grand opening of McCarthy and Stone’s new development.

She also performed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting duties to open the retirement living plus apartments located at Hawkesbury Place, on Fosseway.

Attendees at the opening had the opportunity to chat with Debbie one-on-one, and to meet the McCarthy and Stone team.

Guests were then taken on the first tour of the new development, including the homeowners’ lounge and on-site restaurant, all whilst enjoying a glass of fizz.

Speaking of the event, Debbie McGee said: “It was an absolute pleasure to mark the official opening of McCarthy and Stone’s new retirement living plus development in Stow-on-the-Wold, and to meet with guests and staff.

“It was great to see first-hand what a fantastic development Hawkesbury Place is and the many benefits it will bring to retirees.”

The development features 44 privately-owned one and two bedroom apartments exclusively for those aged 70 and over.

Clare Bright, regional managing director for McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: “We are very proud of Hawkesbury Place and it was our pleasure to showcase this superb new development with such an enjoyable event.

“Everyone had a great time raising a glass to commemorate this important milestone; and the McCarthy and Stone team would like to say thank you to Debbie McGee, for performing the all-important ceremonial duties.”
