POPULAR local musicians, the Leon Daye Band celebrated their hometown Cirencester by performing one of their songs, Centurion Town, from the parish church tower in the centre of town.

The band marking the launch of their new EP, The Gift, with the roof top performance on Saturday, November 17.

It was a tribute to the town where all five members live and work, and was filmed throughout by a videographer for release on social media in the next few weeks.

Band leader Leon, who wrote all six offerings on The Gift EP, said: "The event and the whole thing exceeded all out expectations and was totally awesome".

The event was due to take place a week earlier but wind and rain lashed the town and carrying instruments up 204 steps was considered dangerous by everyone involved.

"But on the 17th the weather was stunning and the views as breathtaking as ever," Leon said.

"It was hard work but we all left feeling energised and with a huge sense of achievement. We undertook filming also in other parts of the town and we cannot wait to see the final version of the video created by our friend, Dean."

Leon added that the video Centurion Town will go live on social media, website pages and You Tube in a few weeks.
