Students at a school in Cricklade were busy last week raising money for charity and winning Swindon's Beat the Street.

Meadowpark School and Nursery children spent the week raising funds for Children in Need.

At the nursery, the children spent the week baking and decorating cakes and biscuits to sell and creating Pudsey bear paintings to display in their classrooms.

At the school, the children adorned themselves in spots and brought in monetary donations.

The school children also spent time making colourful Pudsey artwork as they learnt about the work of Children in Need.

Headteacher, Rajvinder Kular said: “I would like to thank everyone at who took part.

"Parents and grandparents generously donated for the cakes and biscuits baked in the nursery while the school pupils contributed by paying for the privilege of wearing spots.

"It brings the whole school community together in a united effort to raise funds for a worthwhile cause."

The school and nursery raised over £270 in support of the charity.

Pupils at the school also won Swindon's Beat the Street competition in the average points category, beating 70 other schools.

Twenty-three players from Meadowpark School participated in the fun challenge that transformed Swindon into a giant game.

Both the children and their families enjoyed walking, cycling and scooting around Swindon, tapping beat boxes and discovering the area.

Headteacher Rajvinder Kular added: "The children really enjoyed participating in the activities and took a lot of pride in collecting points."
