A HOSPICE care charity has opened its first vintage shop in Cirencester and is hoping to appeal to customers with a keen eye for all things retro.

Longfield's vintage/retro shop, which opened on Dyer Street on November 15, will focus on designer retro and vintage fashion, collectable books and vintage bric a brac.

It is a second shop for the town as Longfield already has its largest and most successful shop in Bishops Walk.

To celebrate the vintage feel, staff and volunteers dressed in vintage clothes, all sourced from the new shop, for the opening.

Longfield runs 19 charity shops across the county and they have all helped to gather the best of their vintage and retro donations from the past few months to be featured at the opening of the Cirencester specialist shop.

Shop manager Bev Wright said: “It is full of quirky finds from a vintage tie press to retro fashion."

“It’s like a little treasure trove, the creme de la creme of Longfield, and certainly not what you might expect to find from a charity shop.”

The shop comes complete with a record player to try out the vinyls on sale.

Ian Cherry, Director of Operations said: “The charity is marking its 30th anniversary this year so it was the perfect time to focus on that vintage vibe.

“We chose Cirencester because it is one of our most important communities where we deliver our hospice at home care which enables people to die at home, surrounded by their loved ones.

“Longfield is only able to provide the care and support free of charge thanks to the community’s support and an important part of that is the money we raise from our shops.”
