WILTSHIRE Council has received reports this week of cold callers in Purton.
Reports suggest that the cold callers are offering insulation to homeowners.
One of the people involved has been described as wearing a yellow jacket with surveyor wording, saying they were calling on behalf of the council.
The council would like to assure residents that they would not cold call, and warn vulnerable residents not to engage in conversations with cold callers.
Wiltshire Councillor Jacqui Lay said: "If anyone suspects a rogue trader is at the door, they should call the police on 101.
"In an emergency, call 999.
"People can also report rogue traders to local trading standards by calling the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 040506."
