An Olveston church is launching an outreach project to help both those close to home and further afield.

St Mary’s will launch Sow and Grow next month.

They are aiming to raise £15,000 for two projects, one to benefit the local community and the other to help overseas.

A number of fundraising events will be held over the next year.

The first project is to create a reflective space in the grounds of Olveston Primary School.

It is hoped the quiet, interactive area will benefit the children’s mental health and wellbeing.

The second project will be to provide an underground rain water collection tank, market garden tools and other help for Maynange, a refugee village in Rwanda.

A launch event in the form of a tea party will be held at the church at 4pm on Sunday, December 2.

Amanda Luke, headteacher at Olveston Primary, and Mike Beresford, chair of Christian Engineers in Development who will be overseeing the Rwanda project, will be making presentations.
