Casualties of World War One were remembered in Nailsworth on Sunday with a wreath-laying ceremony.

Three wreaths were laid at the town's clock tower during a Remembrance Day parade.

As the parade reached the roundabout it paused as wreaths were laid by Nailsworth's mayor Jonathan Duckworth and deputy mayor Anne Elliott as well as Tony Evans for the Royal British Legion.

The procession continued up Fountain Street to the church for the service of Remembrance.

Mayor Duckworth said “The clock tower is a war memorial, and I wanted us to mark this 100th anniversary of the Armistice by placing wreaths there.

"Former mayor Jenny Evans had the inspired idea to decorate the clock tower in this most wonderful way, marking our town's gratitude to those that gave their lives in The Great War and subsequent conflicts. We will remember them.”
