JON Hughes has been named as this year's winner of the Rosie Rumble Award in Siddington, Alison Wagstaff writes.

Jon is a relative newcomer to the parish, having only lived in Siddington for four years, but in that time he has resurrected Siddington Cricket Club after a hiatus of over 50 years.

He has encouraged others to take up the roles of chairman and treasurer and through his captaincy has ensured that Siddington has always been able to field a team.

Rosie’s sisters presented Jon with the Rosie Rumble Award plate, a certificate and a cheque for £75 to be donated to a local organisation or charity of his choice.

Jon then revealed that he would be donating the money to the cricket club to fund the creation of a new trophy, the Rosie Rumble Captains Cup.

This will be presented at the AGM to the club member who has been of most assistance to the club in any capacity.
