Putting together this edition of the paper has been privilege.

Our readers have chosen to share poignant and deeply moving stories with this paper about how their families were affected by WW1.

In doing so we have learned about the personal sacrifices that many individuals made during the terrible war that ended 100 years ago today.

We choose to remember all those who lost their lives, and the communities that were so deeply affected by that loss.

They will not be forgotten.

And the ways in which our towns and villages have chosen to honour them should not be too.

In choosing not to forget we have achieved extraordinary things, showing just what we can accomplish when we work together.

As we look back and remember those who gave so much, let's take this opportunity to look to ahead.

To use our collective strength to build our communities and work together for a brighter future.

They will not be forgotten, we will remember them and honour their sacrifices.

Together we are stronger.
