A BAKERY in Cirencester with a big appetite for charity is serving up its produce throughout this month at a discounted price to members of the forces and ex forces.

Whiddetts Bakery on Dollar Street is baking daily a whole range of poppy-inspired products, and is offering a 10 percent discount off everything in the store for the whole of November to current serving men and woman and those who have served.

The Bakery, which is well-known in the town for its themed window displays, including ones to mark the World Cup and Wimbledon, has also made sure that its window has been fully decorated to mark the anniversary of the ending of the First World War.

The 29th Regiment in South Cerney have donated items to use in the striking display, including camouflage, army boots and a helmet.

Whiddetts manager Mandy Fisher said: "I have friends on the camp at 29th Regiment and they were happy to donate items. My father was in the RAF years ago and my son in law is ex-army. It is nice to show recognition. At the end of the day the army and ex-army personnel have got us where we are today."

She added: "The owner Robert Whiddett often donates to charity and he is very dedicated to our cause."
