LIB Dems have chosen their prospective candidate to be North Wiltshire's next MP.

Dr Brian Mathew was announced as their candidate at a packed members meeting at Kington Langley Village Hall on Saturday, November 3.

The announcement came after Dr Mathew and his opponent Alistair Fernie had spoken to and answered members' questions, the climax of a month long, intensive campaign.

Speaking after the result, Dr Brian Mathew thanked Alistair Fernie for ‎a positive campaign that had energised local members.

Dr Mathew is a water engineer who has worked all over the world, often in dangerous, war torn areas, bringing clean water and safe sanitation to ‎vulnerable communities.

Dr Mathew said: "This is a very challenging time for the voters of North Wiltshire and our country.

"The people of North Wiltshire and Britain demand better.

We Liberal Democrats are ready to meet that demand, ready to win."

Dr Brian Mathew contested North Wiltshire in the 201‎5 and 2017 General Elections. He was an active Remain campaigner in the 2016 EU Referendum.
