A woman who ran Falfield Post Office with her husband for 36 years has died.

Margaret and Roy Shackell ran the shop and post office from 1966 until 2002.

The shop was then sold but their son Adrian, who was born in the original shop premises on the A38, now runs it having bought it back in 2014.

As a result of Mrs Shackell's death the post office will be closed on October 26 and 27.

Shop hours will also be affected and the shop will be closing early at 1pm on these days as well as on October 28.

Normal hours will resume on October 29.

Adrian added: “We apologise for any inconvenience to our customers.”

Mrs Shackell's funeral is at 2pm on Friday, October 26 at St Georges Church, Falfield.
