A TETBURY nursery has been nominated for a national award.

Tiggers Nursery, on Quercus Road, has been nominated for the 'communication with parents recognition' category, at the National Nursery Recognition Awards.

Little Beans Garland in Poole, Little Einstein's Day Care in Monmouth, Twiglets Private Nursery School in Sutton Coldfield, The Little School Daycare Nursery in Middlesex, Treasures Neighbourhood Nursery in Staveley and Care 4 Kids in Blackburn join the nursery on the shortlist.

The nursery put its nomination down to its open door policy with parents, that allows them to come and go as they please.

They also offer an app for parents called ParentZone, that is used as a daily diary for all children, documenting their feeds, naps, meals and nappy changes, along with observations and daily photographs.

Tiggers also communicate with parents through social media and its very own blog page.

A spokesperson for Tiggers Nursery said: “We are very proud to have been shortlisted as a finalist within this category, as we strive to work in partnership with our parents and feel that we do so extremely well.

The team work so hard and are dedicated in providing the best care and learning opportunities for each individual child.

"Communicating with parents and sending them daily updates straight to their phones can often be reassuring, especially as some parents can feel that they are missing out on their child’s day, now they can feel apart of it!

"We feel that it is really important to encourage information sharing and the parentzone does exactly that- we can’t wait to see what our children have been getting up to when they are not in nursery and are able to share these experiences with the children on their return!”

Winner of the award will be selected based on a public vote and a score by a panel of independent judges.

The awards will take place on Saturday, January 26, at Athena in Leicester.
