TWO RAMS have been killed and skinned on farm land in Northleach.
The incident occurred overnight between October 15 and October 16, that saw two breeding rams killed and partially skinned.
Rural crime officer PC Nixk Westmacott said: "We believe that these animals have been killed for their meat, though it would be very tough to eat, in the same way that poachers kill and steal deer.
"It appears that the offenders might have been disturbed in the act as one of the rams was left, partially skinned, in the field along with the remains of the other one.
"Apart from the financial implications for the farmer it is clear that the rams would have suffered a cruel and painful death, and we want to catch those who are responsible and bring them to justice."
Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses in the area on the A40 near Easington overnight between October 15 and October 16.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote incident number 123 of October 16.
