Fairford 5

Holmer Green 0

FAIRFORD Town swept aside Holmer Green with a ruthless performance to extend their unbeaten run to five games writes Chris Tanner.

The Reds were in complete control of the Premier Division encounter and could have scored more.

Defender Robbie James opened the scoring with a close range finish in the 12th minute and it remained 1-0 going into the break, thanks to a smart low stop from home ‘keeper Harrison Ellis to deny the visitors an equaliser.

After the break Fairford showed determination and pinpoint finishing to wrap up their biggest league win of the campaign to date. Youngster Charlie Bailey produced an excellent solo effort, thrashing the ball into the top corner to make it 2-0 on the hour.

Straight from the restart John Thomas capitalised on a poor defensive touch before running clear and smashing home his eighth goal in ten games for the Cinder Lane side.

Dan Bailey volleyed home a measured 67th minute left-footer from just inside the edge of the box to make it 4-0 before doubling his personal tally for the day with an audacious first time finish from distance shortly after.

It was a polished display from the home side, who now have a two-week break from league action taking on AFC Aldermaston in the Challenge Cup this Saturday, October 20. Their next league game is away at Virginia Water on Saturday, October 27.

Fairford have move up to 14th in the Hellenic Premier Division after picking up 10 points from their last four league games. It’s three wins on the spin in all competitions and they haven’t lost since September 15.
