THIS year marks 100 years since women were given the right to vote, and Dr Simon Wenham will be giving an illustrated talk to Rissington Local History Society at Upper Rissington Village Hall on October 19 about the campaign that led to this historic moment.

Dr Wenham is a part-time Oxford University's tutor Continuing Education Department, where he teaches courses focusing on the Victorian period.

His talk will look at the campaign leading to the enfranchisement of women, celebrating the centenary of the first women gaining the vote.

The talk will chart the development of the campaign and how the vote was eventually won.
