The Midcounties Co-operative Food opened its doors to local Sherston residents this week, following the purchase of Sherston Post Office Stores on the High Street.

Colleagues and customers were joined by the Chairman of Sherston Parish Council, Captain John Matthews, as they officially opened the store to the public on 3rd October.

Customers can discover mealtime inspiration for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as grocery essentials at the new store.

Shoppers will also be able to enjoy products from local food and drink suppliers in Wiltshire and neighbouring counties, available as part of Midcounties’ Best of Our Counties range, which champions more than 2,500 products locally-sourced from the counties that the Society trades in.

The store will also provide services including Post Office, dry-cleaning and paypoint facilities.

It will undergo a second phase of refurbishment early next year as it’s fully brought into The Midcounties Co-operative family.

Karl Everleigh, store manager at The Midcounties Co-operative Food in Sherston, said: “We had a fantastic morning meeting our new customers in Sherston and showing them round the new store, I’m really excited about getting to know everyone on first name terms.

“Sherston has a very strong sense of community, which is something that’s really important to us as a Co-operative. It’s fantastic to be opening our new store to customers that share the same values as we do.”

Captain John Matthews, Charmain of Sherston Parish Council, said: “Sherston Post Office Stores was a central part of our village and I’m confident that The Midcounties Co-operative Food will continue to maintain this sense of community with the new store.”
