A TEENAGE boy was choked until he became unconscious during a dangerous children's game called Manhunt!

The boy, aged 16, was taken to hospital, but later discharged.

Manhunt! is a popular game with youngsters, and is essentially a version of hide and seek.

Once an opponent is found they are held in a choke hold.

On this occasion the boy lost consciousness while playing the game in a park at Ledbury last Thursday.

He was initially taken to Ledbury Community Hospital, then transferred to Hereford County Hospital.

He had a bump on his head, but no lasting injuries.

But police are warning that the outcome could have been more serious, and say teenagers should not play the game.

They say participants could seriously injure somebody, and that could lead to prosecution and a criminal record.

The 16-year-old affected had decided not to make an official complaint to the police, but has asked them to warn others of the dangers.
