A CAMPAIGN group to fight plastic use in Malmesbury has launched their own art competition.

Malmesbury Against Plastic who formed in May have launched the competition to those between the ages of 5 and 18-years-old.

They are calling for artwork submissions for the competition with the theme ‘the damage that single use plastics cause to our environment’.

Entries can be a picture or a sculpture.

Pictures can use any medium, but must be drawn on A4 paper. Sculptures, again made of any medium of your choice, but it must not be taller than 50cm.

All entries will be judged by a local artist and displayed at an art exhibition at their ‘Plastic Unwrapped Festival’ being held in the Town Hall on November 24.

The competition will be judged in age categories and the competition is open to those in

Primary and Secondary Schools across Malmesbury and surrounding towns, villages and parishes.

The twelve best entries will be made into a 2019 calendar, which will be for sale at the event.

Put your name and age on the back of any entry along with school/group.

Artworks must be submitted by October 25, and can be sent to or dropped off at 7 The Light, Bristol Road, Malmesbury. You can also email malmesburyagainstplastic@outlook.com to arrange a collection.

Entries can be from individuals or groups.

MAP's 'Plastic Unwrapped Festival', run in collaboration with Malmesbury Town Council, includes guest speakers, film screenings and a SUP-free market for adults and a children’s room with art exhibition and fun educational activities.
