News Shopper readers have reminisced about their favourite Dartford club after a revamp was announced.

Air & Breathe in Essex Road will become ATIK from October 26, after its owner, The Deltic Group, announced a £750,000 makeover.

For those who want to say their goodbyes to Air & Breathe, a farewell party will be held on October 13.

The new club will hold three rooms instead of two, and will be kitted out with chandeliers, booths and swanky new bars.

As news of the takeover became public, Dartford party animals past and present remembered the club's changing faces over the years.

Air & Breathe has been the name of the club for several years, but many have continued to call it Zen's, after the name it had before Air & Breathe took over.

On Facebook, Joanna Morten said "we loved Zen's", and others proclaimed "it will always be Zen's to me."

As people await the ticket release for the goodbye night for Air & Breathe, some people have joked "does this mean we're old?" as they have promised to go to the farewell party.

But there remains a whole generation of Dartford clubbers who are adamant the club will always be Flicks to them - the name of the club when it first opened in the 80s.

ATIK already has a few venues across the UK, including in Romford and Halifax, and Air & Breathe management hopes the newest edition to the franchise will be a hit.

Jordan Craine, general manager of the club, said: “Air and Breathe has been a big part of the town’s nightlife for a long time but it’s time to bring something new to Dartford.

"We’re really excited to open as ATIK Dartford and offer the very best clubbing experience that we can."
