Older people in Stroud are invited to celebrate Apple Day – a hands-on day of juicing, cider and chutney making on Friday, October 19.

The free event takes place at Stroud Congregational Church, Bedford Street, from 10am-2pm.

It is part of Prudential First Time for Everything, a programme designed by the Royal Voluntary Service to help give older people an opportunity to try something new for free in their local community.

The event will be hosted by volunteers from Stroud Valleys Project.

Participants are asked to bring along their own apples, up to 25lb, and screw-top or kilner jars.

An apple recipe book will be available to buy with donations to Royal Voluntary Service to support its work with the NHS and with people in need.

Apple-themed light refreshments will be served and there will also be an opportunity to hear about other local activities for older people.
