FOLLOWING the sad loss of the late Brian Parslow, Dursley Male Voice Choir have appointed a new deputy musical director.

Matthew Sharp, currently organist and choirmaster at Lower Cam and Coaley parish churches, is to take up the role.

A talented pianist, Mr Sharp graduated from Cardiff University in 2015 with a first class honours degree in music.

He is now a private piano teacher and music coach in Stroud, additionally working on a peripatetic basis in schools throughout Gloucestershire, including at Wycliffe College and The

Crypt.

Having previously played as the accompanist for Stroud Light Music Choir and with various university choirs, Matthew now arranges music for

performance on a weekly basis and giving occasional concerts at Lower Cam and Coaley parish churches.

He also performs at weddings and private events with a repertoire encompassing all genres of music from classical, jazz and swing to popular love songs and 50s/60s music right up to present day hits.

He has played in many prestigious venues in the area, including Berkeley Castle, Gloucester Cathedral, the Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.
