Drivers on a major road near Cotswold Airport faced delays on Sunday morning after an unusual obstacle was found sauntering along the A429.

According to rally driving instructor Mark Watkins a pig caused quite a stir when it was found ‘casually walking’ along the busy main road.

“I was instructing for Rallyrides at Kemble airfield and this pig was suddenly spotted casually walking along the A429,” Mark explained.

However disaster is believed to have been averted after a man stopped to help and ushered the large pig to the side of the road while help was called.

“Thankfully this kind chap stopped in his Landrover and kept piggy safe till assistance arrived,” Mark reassured his friends via a post on Facebook.

The pottering pig's owners have now come forward to reassure members of the public that Rose, who is a kune-kune pig is now home snug and well.

"Her name is Rose and she’s now home safe in her bed with a new fence!" Rebecca Webb told The Standard.

"My partner thinks the fireworks last night gave her a fright because she’s never got out before."
