IN just over a week's time beekeepers from across Wiltshire will be swarming to a special day to hear talks, share tips and try special honey-based treats.

Bee enthusiasts of all ages, including Lily Rickitt pictured above,will be attending the Country Honey Show which takes place at the Wiltshire Bee and Honey Day on Saturday, October 6, at the Corn Exchange, Devizes.

The day will include talks aimed at complete novices such as So you want to keep bees? An introduction to beekeeping as a hobby by Lily's dad, Richard Rickitt.

Professor Phil Stevenson's talk will give a fascinating insight into the ecological role of plants and pollinators as he explains how farmers are breeding new strains of strawberry with nectar containing tiny traces of caffeine in Sex, drugs and ecosystem services.

Aside from informative sessions for novices and more experienced apiarists there will also be fun activities including candle rolling, face painting and the opportunity to explore inside a virtual hive.

Plus for anyone finding the fun family day thirsty work there will be the opportunity to try Game of Thrones' favourite tipple, mead.

In between talks and activities visitors can browse stalls selling bee-related products including honey, candles and cosmetics, bee-friendly plants and seeds.
