A RETIREMENT complex has opened its doors today to the Cirencester community to offer coffee and cake as part of Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

Churchill Retirement Living's Beecham Lodge development on Somerford Road will be offering coffee, delicious cakes and biscuits in the Owners’ Lounge, with the opportunity to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Churchill Retirement Living has raised more than £300,000 for the charity since 2009.

It is one of a number of national charities supported by the Churchill Foundation, Churchill’s own registered charity.

This is the ninth year the retirement developer has taken part in World’s Biggest Coffee morning, which last year raised over £30,000.

Bernadette Hennelley, regional marketing manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “We are delighted to once again be involved in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. The events are not only a fantastic way to raise money for a very worthy cause but also an opportunity to get the local community together.

"We have set an ambitious fundraising target of £35,000 for Macmillan this year and we hope people in Cirencester will join us at Beecham Lodge to help us raise lots of money to support the great work the charity does.

“Our Lodges offer a sense of community and companionship, and this event is an ideal opportunity for visitors to also experience the lifestyle on offer here. Many of our Owners regularly take advantage of the communal facilities on offer, including the Owners’ Lounge where we hold regular coffee mornings and fun social events like this.”
