POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man assaulted a lone female jogger.

At about 6:50am last Wednesday (5 September), a female was running in the vicinity of Northmoor Lane and Silver Street in South Cerney.

A passing yellow van stopped and one of the two men inside shouted to the female causing her to stop.

She was subsequently grabbed by her arm and one of the men tried to kiss her.

Fortunately the woman was able to wriggle free and run home.

Although the incident resulted in no lasting injury police officers say that the attack frightened the victim and are very keen to identify the men involved.

They were in an old yellow transit size van with black bumpers and no writing was seen on the side of the vehicle.

The male who grabbed the victim is described as white, 30 years old, approximately 1.85 metres tall and a stocky build.

He had short straight ash blonde hair and stubble on his face.

His clothing was described as dirty and included a grey t-shirt, additionally the victim said he smelt of alcohol.
