Dear Editor
As a recent visitor to Cirencester, I was driving down Castle Street towards the "Shared Space", which used to be the Market Place when I lived in GL7, and I thought Cirencester had turned into a Breton town.
In many towns and cities in Brittany there are junctions which give priority to traffic coming from the right. Remember they drive on the right there. It's a silly idea, but it's French!
As I reached what used to be traffic lights at the entrance to the Market Place (sorry, Shared Space), a car came from the left by the Abbey and turned into the Shared Space (got it right that time).
Does anybody know who has priority at this fairly busy junction?
Yours
