YOUR correspondent and others continue to make much of the fact that 17.4 million

People voted to leave the European Union in the referendum yet seldom is is acknowledged that millions were excluded from voting.

This includes 2.9 million EU citizens living in the UK, and 1.5 million 16 & 17 year olds (some pay income tax, council tax and national insurance, all pay tax and duty on goods and services they buy) and the 1.3 million UK citizens living in Europe.

If those excluded are taken into account, the result of the referendum is less convincing with some 33% of us voting to leave, 31% remain and 36% not voting or excluded.

That parliament decided to bar so many from taking part is lamentable, but perhaps not

entirely surprising given it’s track record on restricting voting rights.

Just over a hundred years ago when women were campaigning for votes they carried banners proclaiming that “Taxation without representation is tyranny”.

It seems that the result of the referendum has left many young people, and those who moved to this country from Europe subject to the tyranny of the Brexiteers.

With still no clear plan for exiting the European Union, or any evidence of tangible.

benefits of doing so, it is important for ALL of us to have a say on the question of BREXIT.

That is why I have signed the petition at www.change.org/p/theresa-may-mp-givepeople-a-final-say-on-brexit-deal and will be joining the march to parliament on 20th October www.peoples-vote.uk/march.
