RENISHAW

Sponsor of Spirit of Youth Award

Renishaw is a world leader in engineering and science-based technologies, employing more than 4,700 people globally, some 2,400 of which are located at its five sites in Gloucestershire.

Last year the FTSE 250-company reported record turnover of £537 million, of which 95 per cent was due to exports. Its largest markets are China, the USA, Germany and Japan.

The company’s products are used by manufacturers globally to produce high-quality components for industries such as aerospace, automotive, construction, agriculture and consumer electronics.

Renishaw is the UK’s only manufacturer of additive manufacturing (3D printing) machines, which ‘print’ parts from metal powder.

Renishaw is also applying its expertise to healthcare applications such as dentistry, neurosurgery and facial reconstructive surgery.

In Bristol it is working with Southmead Hospital and Bristol Children’s Hospital on pioneering neurosurgical procedures including the treatment of epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and brain cancer in children.

Renishaw has won multiple international awards, including 18 Queen’s Awards and is also recognised for its manufacturing excellence. In September 2012 its Woodchester assembly site near Stroud was named the UK’s Best Electronics and Electrical Plant.

To continue its success Renishaw is highly committed to developing its own skilled staff and this year is recruiting more than 50 apprentices, plus 65 graduates, and currently has 130 young people within its four apprenticeship schemes in Gloucestershire.

Renishaw is continuing to grow strongly and currently has more than 300 vacancies in the UK, primarily at its sites in Gloucestershire.

The company is a strong supporter of community organisations and local charities through its Charities Committee, which has existed for over 35 years, and also a sponsor of multiple festivals across the Cotswolds, including the Lechlade, Nibley and Wychwood music festivals.
