FAIRFORD & Lechlade Youth Football Club (FLYFC) held the first ever football festival in Fairford last weekend with plenty of activities for all ages including the End of Season Awards presented by the Club’s coaches to all age groups from the Kickstarters (4-5 year olds) right up to the under 18s.

With the World Cup in full swing, collectors of Panini stickers were able to track down those all-important stickers at an organised swap-shop whilst football supporters could watch the big matches live on the TV with a beer in the comfort of a marquee supplied by Flint & Lambourn Marquees.

The team from Swindon Town in The Community were also on hand offering football-themed activities whilst the pitches were available for those looking for a fun kick-about.

For those not into football, there were two large inflatables to play on courtesy of SK Party Solutions and fish and chips from The Cotswold Chippy

In order to raise funds for the Club, there was a sports memorabilia auction with items including Swindon Town and Coventry City signed shirts and a raffle.

Adam Sloman, Chair of the FLYFC, said: “The Club has some big plans for the future. We want to build links with the community and the other sporting clubs in Fairford. We are grateful to Fairford Cricket Club for lending us the outdoor furniture for this event and for Fairford Rugby Club in cutting the grass for us.”

There are nearly 300 youngsters – boys and girls – registered at the Club, but FLYFC need more coaches for the KickStart age group and the under 15s.

Volunteers are also needed to help out in the kitchen for Sunday morning practices, which start at 10am at Horcott Road.
