A TETBURY dad has completed a mammoth 258 mile cycle ride from Tetbury to Paris in just over 24 hours.

Dan Boulton completed the ride agonisingly missing out on his target of breaking the 24 hour barrier.

Unfortunately, his partner for the challenge, Fran Eddolls, dropped out early on after becoming sick, so Dan had to solider on and complete the challenge on his own.

Setting off on June 1, at midday, Dan navigated 258 miles before arriving at the Eiffel Tower in Paris just before 1pm the following day.

Dan had taken on a similar challenge before back in 2014, where he set off with two others from Cirencester to Paris with a similar aim, but suffered minor problems along the way and finished in 27 hours.

The failure to complete the challenge in 24 hours has bothered him since, and it will again, but to beat his previous time by almost three hours solo should not go unnoticed.

Dan said: “Well things didn’t quite go to plan!

“Thank you so much for all the messages and support before and throughout my journey, I’m completely overwhelmed and truly blessed to know such amazing people.”

Dan, along with Fran, took on the challenge for Cancer Research UK in memory of loved ones.

The duo have raised more than £1,600, surpassing their goal of £1,500.
